-Welcome!This is a community focused on learning and improvement.Explore the wealth of and elsewhere before asking for help, do your own research. I know a decent amount about eqing and compressing. And I know that certain speakers can only play a ceratin level on db. When I listen to a song with a heavy 808 by a big name producer, (lex luger, metro boomin, mike will, ect.) no matter what im listening to it through whether it be my laptop, my car or my headphones, the 808 seems to always sound the same. I can never get mine to do this. Even after mastering, my 808s are barley noticable on my laptop and sound perfect through my headphones. When I put my beats on big speakers with a sub, they just over power everything.
I cant understand why. I try to eq as best as possible and push all my kick and bass sound out. Then add a compressor and limiter and tune the sound to my liking. How do I get it to level out on all sound systems though? Is there anyone who can help me with this?. How do you make your stuff?
There is a lot of important sound information in the lower mid-range that many people instinctively (or through bad influence) tend to cut out on their EQs. There's excellent 'fwap' in the 300hz region that people chop away from their kicks/basses and then compensate for the missing punch with comps and such. A properly 'sat in the mix' kick/bass has more low-mid mud than people think, generally, and a soloed kick/bass from a really good mix may sound weird but will sit in the entire mix nicely.TLDR: don't base your tones off what an instrument sounds like soloed. If your mixing 808s on headphones.

Theres your problem never do that always mix 808s on speakers with a sub and have the sub set to neutral.if not it might be an illusion.also, never use a limiter on anything except the master. It doesnt help nearly as much as people think, if anything it hurts by squeezing the sound before it gets to the master which is bad for some reason i cant remember, if you need more volume, its either how your mastering, your not compressing agressively enough, or you just have the 808s set too quiet.
